#ooh i didn't know this was being made into a movie #i think i read this when i was like 11 which was probably not a good idea in retrospect because i spent more time being annoyed at the main character having an affair with an older married woman than i did appreciating all the beautiful prose #the parts set in the trenches were brilliant though #also eddie redmayne's face annoys me #birdsong
