Liverpool’s 2011/2012 Fixtures.
Ugh, what is with having to play United and Everton back-to-back twice?! But the games during Christmas and towards the end of the season aren’t that bad so meh. Can the season just start already?

I’d like to tell the fans that I’m over the moon to be here and they will see me giving everything I’ve got in every game I play. Hopefully they’ll enjoy watching me as much as I’ll enjoy playing for this club.

United, Tottenham, Arsenal
Watch my lips, and I will spell
‘cause they don’t just play, but they can rap as well…”

“Oh, and it’s a BRILLIANT goal! It’s a brilliant goal from Steven Gerrard! Liverpool are back in front, and you can see what it means to them! Steven Gerrard!”
Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool FC
Liverpool hadn’t won on the first game of the season for about 5 or 6 years, was it? Something like that. We were tied 1-1 with an OG from an Aston Villa player and then a Gareth Barry penalty, and then came this free-kick. Wazza can go on and on about Fernando being the best Liverpool player in the last 2 decades, but he must be forgetting about Stevie G. Doesn’t get any better than Steven Gerrard. How many times has he saved us and scored beautiful goals like this one, eh? Just your typical Amazing-From-Either-Outside-The-Box-Or-Free-Kick-Goal from Stevie G.

Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson
So random, I can’t believe we actually bit for him. There is this prejudice against British football players though. I bet 90% of people think ‘Oh, Mata is Spanish! He must be brilliant!’ and this without watching more than two Valencia matches this season (and I’m not saying that he isn’t but most people seem to have that automatic assumption). Not that British players aren’t overpriced, because they really are - £20m for Henderson is ridiculous regardless of the potential we see now and the kind of player he may or not become. I haven’t watched a lot of Sunderland so I don’t think it’s fair for me to comment but I don’t see the point on splurging on someone who isn’t going straight into the first team (you’d assume that most games next season would involve Lucas/Meireles/Gerrard or at least I personally hope they do). I’m sure Henderson would be great back-up (though we already have Shelvey!!! Will no-one think of Jonjo??!) and it would be great for him to train and progress under someone like Kenny so that he will eventually be good enough to start for us but if they’re already rebuffing a £13m offer (which is what all of that is worth, IMO) then I really hope we just leave it.
